Job orders in the workshop: how to never lose track of orders, stages and deliveries again
7 October 2026 · by Tony
In a workshop or a small craft shop every job is different: a made-to-measure ring, a piece of furniture, a repair. Each has its own timing, its own stages and its own customer waiting. Keeping it all in your head, or in a notebook, works as long as there are only a few jobs.
When the notebook is no longer enough
- You can't remember where a job stands without going to check
- A delivery date slips by and you notice too late
- It's unclear who has paid the deposit and who still has to settle the balance
- Information is scattered across sheets, photos and messages
What managing a job order really means
Every job has a number, a customer, a description, a delivery date and a status: received, in progress, ready, delivered. With a custom-built system you see everything in one list and, with one tap, you change a job's status.
The stages, one at a time
If your work has steps (design, making, finishing, quality check), they can be recorded one by one, so you always know where everything is and what is missing before delivery.
Payments under control
Deposits, balances and reminders: you know at any moment how much has been paid and what is still to collect, without redoing the sums at the end of the month.
There's no need to complicate your life: we start from what you already do, but organised in one place. If you want to see what it could look like in your case, tell me about it and I'll show you an example.
